Do you
know a young person who lives in Farnham
and who you feel deserves to be nominated
as the Farnham Young Person of 2007?
Farnham Town Council is again looking
to find a Farnham Young Person to
turn on the Christmas Lights.
The Council is looking for a young
person who has:
- Contributed to a community activity
- Looked after a family member
- Achieved something special in
school, sport or another activity
As part of the young person’s
prize they will be given the honour
of turning on the Farnham Christmas
Lights on Saturday 24 November 2007.
The Mayor of Farnham, Councillor
Carole Cockburn, will have the task
of choosing the competition winner
after all the nominations have been
received. The Town Mayor comments
that ‘I am looking forward
to reading through all the nominations
and I think that I am going to have
a hard task deciding which young person
deserves to be ‘Farnham Young
Person of 2007’. We are
looking for nominations from all sectors
of the Farnham community’
The Town Clerk, Roland Potter, went
on to say ‘nominations could
be for a Young Person who has saved
somebody’s life, it could be
that they have won a sports competition,
achieved something in Scouts or Guides
or another organisation, recovered
from a serious illness, acted bravely
in a situation of danger, been courageous,
anything really as long as the nominating
person feels the young person deserves
to be crowned ‘Farnham Young
Person of 2007’
Last year’s winner was Alexandra
Leeson who was nominated because of
her bright and bubbly personality,
even though she suffers from a rare
condition she just gets on with life
and is an inspiration to those around
her and this is the reason that she
was chosen as the ‘Farnham Young
Person of 2006’.

The Mayor, Carole Cockburn added,

in Farnham, and the ‘Farnham
Young Person of 2007’ competition
is just one of the ways that Farnham
Town Council is supporting young people
in Farnham ’.

18 years and under and you feels deserves
recognition nominate them for the
‘Farnham Young Person of 2007’.
Nominations need to be received by
